Limitations & Nuance

Auto Focus Keyword is a productivity tool, not a keyword research replacement. This page documents the cases where the automation may not produce optimal results.

Page title ≠ ideal keyword

The plugin uses the WordPress post title as the focus keyword. This works well for product catalogs (the product name is almost always the search target), for blog posts with keyword-optimized titles, and for service pages with descriptive names.

It works less well when titles include branding (e.g., « Premium Consulting Services | Acme Corp »), when titles are creative or abstract rather than search-oriented, when the target keyword is a long-tail variation not present in the title, or when a page targets multiple keywords.

Use Auto Focus Keyword as a starting point, then refine manually where it matters. Run the FETCH → SYNC to populate everything, then review your most important pages and adjust the focus keyword by hand in Yoast, Rank Math, or AIOSEO.

This hybrid approach gives you 80% automation with 20% editorial judgment — the best of both worlds.

Impact on the internal linking layer

If a focus keyword is suboptimal, it will also produce suboptimal anchor text in Automatic Internal Links. That is why the manual review step matters: the quality of your keyword layer directly affects the quality of your internal linking.
